Chania

Chania is a beautiful city located on the northwest coast of the island. The old town of Chania is a beautiful labyrinth of narrow alleys and streets, lined with Venetian and Ottoman-era buildings. It's home to several museums, galleries, and historic landmarks. Experience the history of the island by visiting the Venetian Harbor, a picturesque spot to stroll and enjoy the views. Admire the fishing boats coming in and out of the harbor, and enjoy a meal or a drink at one of the many waterfront cafes and restaurants. More historical landmarks to visit include the Venetian Fortress, the Archaeological Museum, and the Ancient Aptera.

If you prefer to stay next to a beach, make sure to visit Balos Beach, Elafonissi Beach, and Falassarna Beach.

Nature lovers will definitely enjoy the Samaria Gorge, the White Mountains, and the Agia Irini Gorge. Chania is surrounded by stunning natural beauty, so anything from hiking, birdwatching, even mountain climbing is possible.

*TIP!

This city is incredibly dense and therefore you will need to pay attention to where you park your car. Make sure to park only in designated parking areas to avoid any mishaps.
